Earth Day-ish 2008
I believe in drops in the bucket. I believe in grains of sand, and grains of rice. I believe in CFLs. There was a great line in an article today by Michael Pollan: "The Big Problem is nothing more or less than the sum total of countless little everyday choices, most of them made by us ... and most of the rest of them made in the name of our needs and desires and preferences." So no, I don't use my own bag EVERY time. And I do have a car, and I do eat meat, but I'm trying to be a little less damaging to the earth every day. I use my own bag a lot more (or no bag at all!). I combine my errands more. I have more CFLs. I hardly ever buy bottled water. I turn more things off. I pay more attention to who benefits from my money. I support independent businesses whenever I can. And I believe that the choices I make matter, even when they're not going to make a dramatic difference all at once. The choices we all make matter. Coming right up.... May 17 and 18, I'll make the scene in Beverly Hills, for the Affaire in the Garden, where the people are as much fun to see as the art! June brings a double-header in Chicago, and in July I'm giddy to be returning to Denver for the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. See my shows page for all the details. |

I was awarded a Juror's Choice Award at ArtSpan Benefit Art Show and Auction! Artspan is a critical support to independent artists in San Francisco, and I am grateful for all the work they do, including the Fall Open Studios. check them out! |
